Swords manor under 9 s visited st itas on Saturday last in a return league cup match having narrowly lost last week in a match where a few decisions went against them.the manor started quickly and controlled midfield with callum whelan and nickson dominating and zac fitzgerald and jayden keaveny in flying form.it wasn't long before manor took the lead with jayden keaveny getting on the end of zac fitzgeralds cross and smashing the ball home,after that goal whelan was played through one on one and he was pulled to the ground but the incident was not seen by the referee and went unpunished. Just before half time whelan again had a good chance when set up by a combination of nickson and Sam moore but the goalkeeper saved well.then approaching half time manor conceded a suckered punch breakaway goal.the second half started scrappy with defences on top,captain sam moore and the brilliant colin rossiter were dominant and giving nothing away, manor nearly took the lead in the 29 th minute when a superb alan harte cross was met first time by nickson but the st itas keeper somehow turned it away. Jake fitzgerald and Adam Kulick were introduced and manor kept probing but st itas seemed happy to sit back and hit manor on the break and on a few occasions manor keeper David morris had to make a few smart saves.with the clock ticking down manor were given a free at the edge ofvthe area and dead ball specialist sam moore stood up and smashed a brilliant shot which was goal bound but a st itas player put his hand out and handled the ball but again it was not seen.but it finished 1-1 and manor are still well in contention in this group.
